Från Franska tomten till Liljas grav
År 1784 kallades området för Franska tomten då det användes som fransk frihamn i utbyte mot att Frankrike avstod den västindiska ön S:t Barthélemy till Sverige. Så uppfördes magasin för franska viner. Efter den stora sillperiodens slut var det alltför få som hade råd med sådana seder och verksamheten lades ner. Här uppfördes ett värdshus som följaktligen fick heta Franska värdshuset. Källa
